Republicans have a Front-Runner; The Democrats still Battling

All the hype of Super Tuesday is finally finished and with the votes still being tallied, it is interesting to hear and read the results. On the republican side, McCain has clearly been selected as the front runner by claiming California, Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, and Deleware. Overall he had collected 514 delegates compared to Romney who has 177 and Huckabee with 122. But with McCain having a fairly big lead over the other candidates, most of the media attention is about the neck and neck race between Clinton and Obama.

According to CNN, Obama won more states, but Clinton collected more delegates. Clinton is projected to win Arkansas, and she better with the connection to her husband, Arizona, California, Oklahoma, New York, New Jersey, and Tennessee. One of the interesting ones that she won was Massachusetts, even with the endorsement that Obama received from Ted Kennedy. But with Obama claiming Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota and Utah, the campaign trail is going to continue.

What was interesting in reading articles this morning is how both campaigns tried to spin the vicotry. Obama's campaign highlighted how Clinton claimed that she had won in Missouri, only to find out the Obama in fact did. Obama's spin of super Tuesday has been that he has kept up with Hillary, and has closed voting gaps between them. Clinton on the other hand is attempting to down play Obama's campaign arguing that people are beinging to see through the star-studded and celebrity rallies that he is putting on and look down at the heart of the topics. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the election unfolds for the democrats, because for me, I think the Republican nomination is sealed with McCain.
