Who is really ready for president?

http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/Vote2008/Story?id=4374621&page=3

One of Hillary’s main arguments throughout this entire campaign is that she has experience that Obama lacks. Obama recently made a statement in regards to this opinion, which I think is a good one. He says, “I think the real question is, how do you know any president is ready? [Until] you’re president, you haven’t made these decisions.” He then goes on to further explain that people need to focus more on how he has “exercised judgment” on key foreign policy questions over past years. He says that although Hillary likes to make it seem as though she has more experience, he has shown judgment superior to some of those who are claiming “much lengthier experience.” Clinton has used her traveling experience, her time spent in the White House, and her service on the Senate Armed Services to show that she is more experienced, therefore more fit to become president. Obama acknowledges this and explains how he has actually lived overseas, and has served on the Senate Relations Committee. As for living in the White House, he does not have that experience, but suggests that Clinton “takes credit for good things that happened and doesn’t take credit for bad things that happened.” Obama also mentioned that he feels one of his main strengths is keeping his composure in stressful situations when others crack under pressure. He says, “…I don’t get rattled and I don’t get rattled during campaigns.” I think that this is a very important strength for him to emphasize because this is much needed in the White House and is one of the main qualities that our president must possess. I also think that he did a good job in response to Hillary criticizing that he is not experienced; he showed that he has similar experience to Hillary, while pointing out his strengths.

I agree that she likes to take credit for the positive that occurred during her husband's presidency, yet she distances herself from things like NAFTA and "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

"Experience" means something different to every candidate.

I think the question of experience for both of these candidates is a great one. While Hillary truly knows what it is like to be in the White House, I am still hesitant to believe in her due to her emotional outbreaks throughout the campaign. On the other Obama has clearly not spent as much time in the White House or in politics for that matter, but I feel he is a stronger candidate.
