Ron Paul

I thought that this was interesting as i am starting to like Ron Paul a lot. I dont think he is gettign fair media coverage. This is from an article.

After the rally, he said he agrees with his supporters that his campaign has not gotten fair coverage in the mainstream media. Instead, his campaign has relied on alternative media and organizing tools such as MeetUp.com.

“Without them we wouldn’t exist,” he said.

After his speech, Paul allowed supporters to line up and took the time to pose for pictures and sign autographs for all of them. Many had fliers or posters. Brandon Dickey of Auburn had Paul sign a pocket version of the Constitution.

Paul said, with all the support he’s gotten, his ideas will only get more traction.

“Some have said I’ve helped to remove your apathy, but you have helped remove my skepticism,” Paul said.

I found the quote at the end pretty moving

Ron Paul seems to have struck a deep chord among a certain constituency of Americans. I have been impressed by the fervor displayed by his supporters, a phenomenon I first witnessed when the candidate spoke in front of our own Tommy Trojan last fall. Then, months later, while shopping in Santa Monica, I encountered a sizable march of feisty Paul supporters pacing the Promenade as they chanted and distributed information about their candidate. And I have noticed those easily recognizable "Google Ron Paul" and "Ron Paul R[evol]ution" signs in all sorts of unexpected places. Paul and his supporters have embraced alternative means of getting their message out and I think such creativity has made something significant of a campaign that could have been deemed marginal and unremarkable. Even though he's still not topping polls, Paul has succeeded in bringing attention to his views, which differ markedly from the rest of the Republican field.

Ron Paul is an overt racist. Selected from a 1992 article in the Ron Paul Political Report:

Indeed, it is shocking to consider the uniformity of opinion among blacks in this country. Opinion polls consistently show that only about 5% of blacks have sensible political opinions, i.e. support the free market, individual liberty, and the end of welfare and affirmative action.... Given the inefficiencies of what D.C. laughingly calls the "criminal justice system,"I think we can safely assume that 95% of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal.

If similar in-depth studies were conducted in other major cities, who doubts that similar results would be produced? We are constantly told that it is evil to be afraid of black men, but it is hardly irrational. Black men commit murders, rapes, robberies, muggings, and burglaries all out of proportion to their numbers.

If racism in 1992 isn't enough, in December of last year Ron Paul admitted to Tim Russert that he would not have voted for the civil rights act.

Ron Paul gets too much credit.
